About Us
Mike Hunter has been the general manager of Thomas County Feeders since November 2000. Mike has
a lengthy background in feed yards that started at the young age of fifteen while he was growing up in
southwest Kansas . His beggining duties were tank washer in the afternoons during school and on
weekends, and later on began helping in the animal health, and feeding departments. Mike went on to
spend several years working in the animal health divisions of various feeding companies, and looking after
pasture cattle. Gaining experience in all feed yard departments, Mike was hungry to learn more and set
his sites to become a manager. A valuable lesson learned is knowing employees are the key to success.
Cattle performance is produced by the willingness of employees to follow procedures, and the ability a
manger has to train and enforce those procedures. Having learned from the ground up, Mike has earned
the respect of others, and they know he himself has done everything he ask's them do.

Mike went to work for a large family owned feeding company in 1987 that was the turning point of his
carreer. He was promoted to cattle foreman and began to build upon his reputation at the age of 27. A
few years later Mike was promoted to assistant manager. Mike's reputation with animal health expertise
would soon include cattle marketing, and customer relations. In February of 1997 Mike was transferred
to Guymon, Oklahoma to manage a feed yard the family owned company had aquired. Mike's experience
and reputaion was called upon in Oklahoma to turn around a then failing perfromance. Performance was
acheived, and through expansion, capacity was increased from 23,000 head to 33,000 head. That same
drive and determination has taken the performance at Thomas County Feeders to to the level it is today.
